Let the Summer Reading Begin!

WHEW!!!!!!  School is over!

Well, at least for some of us!  I have decided once again to enroll in a summer enrichment course, biology, and though it has not started, I am looking forward to learning more about the subject.  I am currently in school for the Business and Finance Academy which started the day after school ended.  It has been very interesting as the first day me and the other nine students had to come up with our own business.  It was neat to hear the names of other businesses and why my classmates selected that particular business and its name.  I am looking forward to this class and learning A LOT.   This summer will be packed for me and I am excited about some of the upcoming events as well as some of the past events. So without any further delay…………

Book Expo!  OMG!  This was probably the BEST so far!  I had so much fun and met so many authors, publishers and of course BOOKS!  I have “ALL-ready” blocked the dates for  my trip for next year and I am still putting books received on the Adele’s Literacy Library’s bookshelves!  BEA ROCKS!!!!!!  The Baltimore fundraiser that I had back in May was a great success!  The weather was perfect and ALL had a great time.  On the way to Baltimore, we watched AVATAR (which I had never seen before) and it was incredible!  I’m sorry that I did not see it on the big screen.  We took a survey on the way back and we received much feedback as to where people would like to go on the next trip.

I recently partnered with the United Way of Camden County and donated 100 books to Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood is the nations leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate.   These books will be placed at clinic and Dr.’s offices which children and adults can enjoy a good book while waiting to be seen. I loved meeting the people at P.P. and  happy that I will be  hosting Storytelling with Adele at one of their upcoming events.

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2010!  I attended St. Matthew’s Baptist Church pre-school graduating ceremonies where Adele’s Literacy Library donated books to every graduate!  I also would like congratulate my cousins, and friends who also graduated and going to college in the fall.  I am officially a sophomore!  Wooo wooo!

In July, I will be going to Kansas City, Missouri to the NAACP national convention for the five day ACT-SO national competition.  . ACT-SO–the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics–is a major youth initiative of the NAACP. Gold, silver and bronze medalists.  The gold medalist will compete against other state gold medalist for the national title in their respected category for scholarships. The State of New Jersey will be represented by three Gloucester County winners in the categories Sculptor/Photography, Medicine/Health and Entrepreneurship.  I also would like to congratulate all the other county winners within the state of New Jersey that will be traveling to nationals as well.  For more information about the program, please visit http://www.naacp.org/youth/act-so/.

The Twinkie Award honors unsung small business heroes that you would not ordinarily hear about. I was the winner of the Best New Product Category!  I received a monogrammed silver briefcase!  I had the opportunity to network withother business owners and possible partner with some of  these companies!  I would like to give a special SHOUT OUT to Ms Tish and the juding team!  Thank you for recognizing me and Adele’s Literacy Library!  Check out the Twinkie website at http://www.thetwinkieawards.com/index.htm …… pretty impressive!

Last week was the Miss New Jersey Scholarship pageant and I my two sister queens, Lindey Petrosch, Miss Atlantic County and Katie Berry, Miss Columbus Day were competing for the Miss New Jersey title.  I am so PROUD of them!  Lindsey won the talent prelim and made the top ten and Katie won Swimsuit and evening gown (3 way tie) and was 2nd runner up!  I cheered and screamed for them as they graced the stage with their beauty and style!  I have to admit though there was one girl who stood out the most to me and I cheered for the LOUDEST……. It was my eight year old sister Alannah!  She was the “little star” to Miss Heartland, Chelsea Lee Rae.  During the competition, the contestants bought their star on stage and gave them a rose.  It was so cute!  As my sister “La La” walked on stage my family and I screamed and yelled!  She looked so adorable!  I would like to congratulate Ashleigh Udalovas who was crowned Miss New Jersey 2010 and will be competing for the Miss America crown in the upcoming future!  To learn more about the Miss New Jesersy scholarship program, visit http://missnewjersey.net/news.html

Since we are on the pageant section,  on August 1st, I will be crowning Miss Bonnie Blue Outstanding Teen 2011.  My year as Miss Bonnie Blue Outstanding Teen 2010 was so much more than I could have wanted.  My family continues to grow and the Consalvos are in a class ALL by themselves!  OK!…..  I need to change the subject, I am getting very sad.  The Bonie Blue Foundation website can be found at http://www.thebonniebluefoundation.org/

For the months of April, May and June I donated over 400 brand new books and bookmarks!  In July I will be reading at a summer Youth Program in Camden.  I will also be hosting a Fourth of July Reading Party for the children within my development and tentatively hosting a few other events if scheduling permits.  Please visit Adele’s Literacy Library’s web store  at http://allforbooks.amazonwebstore.com/   to purchase books!  The summer reading list for grades 1st through 12th can be found on this site so please support what I do and buy a book!

To Read or not to read… I say……. Read ALL You Can!

Hello!  Long time no READ!  I am so sorry that I have not updated you with my blog in a while but hopefully, by the end of reading my blog, everyone will be updated!  I want to thank everyone for the emails, phone calls of continued support!

Since February, when my  last blog was posted L, A.L.L. has been doing many great things!  So let’s start where we left off!

In March Adele’s Literacy Library hosted its second annual Easter Egg Hunt for Books!  The children at the St. Matthews Day Care and their after school program received a chance to hunt for eggs filled with candy and also receive a book.  The weather was great and ALL seemed to enjoy it!  We gave out approximately 100 books at that event!

I also continued to host Storytelling with Adele but there was one school that truly made me see how much I am making a difference.  Sooooo with that said…….. I am giving a special “SHOUT OUT” to the children at Kinder Academy in Philadelphia!  I had the best time reading to six different classes but when I arrived there were posters ALL over welcoming me!  Needless to say I was so surprised.  Upon arriving at each classroom there was another sign with all the kids from that classroom’s name.  No remember I read to people of ALL ages so some of the handwriting was scribble because the kids had not learned how to read…it was so cute!  We took pictures and of course I read and talked about the book. At the last class, they sang a song when I walked through their classroom door!  The words were “Adele is coming today…Adele is coming today… we love to read Adele is coming today”!  It was in the tune of the Farmer and the Del!  OMG!!!  I almost cried!  Well since then me and the little ones at that Kinder Academy have become pen pals!

If you are looking for a magazine designed to help girls see how God is at work in their lives and in the world around them then you should consider Shine Brightly Magazine. This organization is doing a lot of great things and talks about women who are doing the same.  In March, I was featured on their get inspired page, but please check out their website at www.gemsgc.org  I think you will be surprised at ALL the great things they are doing.

In April, I had the chance to compete against hundreds of other teens from the ages 13-18 for scholarships. The ACTSO program under the direction of the NAACP gives teens the opportunity to compete in 27 different categories ranging from Humanities, Business, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, to the Sciences, Business and even Medicine.  I received the gold medal in the business category and now will be travelling to Kansa City, Missouri for the National Title.  I’m so thrilled and can’t wait!

Books, Books, and more Books. I’m talking about the Book Expo of America beginning May 26-May 28. This Book Expo will have its kick off with none other than Ms. Barbara Streisand!  Also Ms. Condoleezza Rice will be there as well!  I can’t wait for this event as I already have my list of authors to meet, and books to get!  I can’t wait!

I-M-P-O-R-T-A-N-T!  That’s  how the kids at Oak Knoll elementary school responded when I asked them “What is reading?” At Oak Knoll, I was fortunate enough to start a program called R.A.Y.C which stands for Read All You Can, designed for students 1st through 4thgrade at Oak Knoll. The students had one month to read as many age appropriate books as they could and the classrooms from each grade level that read the most books, received a Pizza Party!  Can you believe in a one month period, Oak Knoll Elementary read 4,984 books! Congratulations to Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Vitale, Miss DePhillipo, and Mr. McQuillan for having the winning classrooms.  The winners received a pizza party, as well as their faces on my upcoming summer bookmark.    Though, it was a prize at the end to the winning classrooms, EVERYONE was a winner!   This was not about the prize, it was about empowering kids to read and I  think that message came across to them and now, some of them want to read more!.  I’m so proud of the students at Oak Knoll and I want to personally thank Ms.  DelConte for welcoming this program into her school and supporting me tremendously!

Well, I now have to get ready for my fundraiser to Baltimore!  I am so glad the weather is going to be perfect!  Please check out my website and my web store which both can be found at www.AdelesLiteracyLibrary.org

Let is snow… Let it snow…. STOP the snow!!! :)

Hello!  Last month I had the priviledge to read to over one hundred children and their families at the Sheraton in Society Hill sponsored by the Variety Children’s Charity and  hosted by Miss Pennsylvania 2007, Rachel Brooks.   This was their Winter Wonderland celebration for the children with autism and I had an awesome time!.  Upon arrival, I met Miss Melissa who had been my contact from the beginning so I was glad I finally got to meet her; thank you Miss Melissa for inviting me!  She took me to the activity corner where I was going to read.  It was perfect, a big chair for me with smaller chairs for the children.  I also had a table that displayed my business cards, bookmarks, etc.   Around noon the children and their families began to arrive and I was ready to begin reading!

The two books that I selected to read were What I like About Me and Big Bear, Little Bear.  One was to be read during the activity corner session and the other was to be read to the entire audience on stage.  What I like About Me was a great book to read because it celebrates the many differences that people have and to be happy about them!  During the activity corner session, I read  Big Bear Little Bear.  The children loved this book, as the children got to touch the pages of the book after I read each page.  The book was a touch and feel where the animals felt real to the touch. One kid enjoyed touching the pages of the book so much that his parents had to feel the book for themselves just to see what the fuss was all about!  While the children and their families were eating the entertainment began!  There was a magician who dazzled the audience, Santa showed with gifts and Storytelling!

Rachel introduced me and I went on stage to read What I like About Me! Afterwards, I asked the audience to state what they like about themselves.  It was so cute to see the children walk up on stage and tell the entire audience what they liked about themselves.  It was funny because I got a little carried away as I encouraged ALL the children to come up on stage  to say what they liked about themselves.  My mom was giving me the signal to try to end because my time was up, but I kept on going not realizing the amount of time that had passed.  Rachel politely  walked on stage and discreetly whispered that it was time to stop.  OMG!!!  Embarrassing but hilarious!!!!!

This month is Black History Month and though there are tons of books to read, I thought it would be nice to list a few.  Toni Morrison, author of the Bluest Eyes, Tar Baby and Beloved is considered one of the best African American authors of the 20th century.  I read the Bluest Eyes and I thought it was a very good book.  Ms. Morrison is such a writer!  Also in the top 50 African-American Authors are Zora Neale Hurston (Their Eyes Were Watching God), Maya Angelou (I Know Why Caged Birds Sing),  Alica Walker (The Color Purple) and Langston Hughes just to name a few.  For children: Brown Like Me by Nolle Lamperti, Sunny’s Adventures by Leketha Johnson,  Jump at the Sun by the African American Picture Book Collection and Come on Rain by Karen Hesse and Jon J. Muth.

In my last blog I talked about the upcoming pageant for Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen and that I was competing for the state title.  Unfortunately I was not selected, but it was a great experience!!!! I had A LOT of fun with all the other girls and some of them were “SO CRAZY” (wink wink).  I want to thank my entire support team for helping me prepare for the pageant!   I would like to congratulate Andie Babusik who is our Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen 2010.

Several months ago, I was interviewed by LipGloss magazine about Adele’s LiteracyLibrary.  The issue is now out and it looks INCREDIBLE! Check it out at www.lipglossmagazine.com (I’m on page 14!).  This month I will be donating 75 books to local schools and I hosted a  Valentine’s Reading for the children ten and under in my development.  I would have loved to have seen more children turn out for this event but I think if I didn’t have to compete against the snow, school closings,   and the holiday weekend, the turnout may have been a little different!  And speaking of snow……….

My hometown is getting hit with a lot of snow!  At first I enjoyed all the snow, but now I can’t wait for the summer!  Don’t forget to grab a book and READ!!!

Reading is not just fundamental……….

Hello everyone!  Now that the school year is here I am hoping that reading is prospering even more. The current book I’m reading is TRICKS by Ellen Hopkins, and it is really good! I hope ALL are reading as much as they can and to try to distance themselves from the television. Remember thirty minutes a day with your children or even for yourself will make a big difference.

On October 24, 2009, I will be attending The Kids Are Heroes Day. I’m so excited! I will be traveling to the Francis Key Mall to meet some of the other heroes that have been nominated over the year. I am extremely honored and looking forward to meeting the other nominees! For those who are unaware, The Kids are Heroes Day, is a gathering of kids, who have done tremendous and charitable things. I can’t wait to meet the other kids that have done extraordinary things in their communities. Thank you Kids are Heroes for nominating me to be your hero.

On October 11th I competed in my first pageant of the year which was the Bonnie Blue Outstanding Teen. This is a local pageant that is affiliated with the Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant. I am SO HAPPY to announce that I WON!!!!!!! Yes! My official title is Miss Bonnie Blue Outstanding Teen 2010. There was a parade the day before the pageant, I had so much fun! All the contestants were so supportive of each other which made us all have a BLAST! We danced on the float the entire way, down the Atlantic City Boardwalk. My first appearance was the next day, Monday, in Atlantic City for the laying of the Columbus Day Reef. To learn more about the pageant as well as the Bonnie Blue Foundation, you can check out www.theboniebluefoundation.org <http://www.theboniebluefoundation.org>. I promise you won’t be bored.   I want to give a special THANK YOU to Ms. Barb and Maureen for the wonderful experience I had as your Miss Heartland Outstanding Teen 2009, I hope I will always be your girl!

I am currently reading to a group of kids weekly that are beginning to like books! Yeah! They are quite young and when I first arrived, they were more fascinated with my crown. I have now figured out a way to hold their attention just a little bit longer. We play games relating to the book I read beforehand. They are catching on fast, and are beginning to get the hang of sitting down and listening. I am so proud of these little ones and look forward to watching them grow during this school year.

I am preparing for my 1 year celebration for Adele’s Literacy Library which is going to be ALL that! I can’t believe in a couple of months Adele’s Literacy Library will be one year old!!!! I am getting soooooo old! I am so excited because I don’t know what my family has planned! They tell me bits and pieces just to get me going! I know as time gets closer, especially when it comes to finalizing things, I will be involved!

I would like to thank the authors, publishing companies as well as my family, friends and people I have never met for ALL the support and words of encouragement you have given me.  I am grateful for your support and look forward to continuing to promote literacy!
Please continue to Read

Welcome Back to school!

Hope everyone had a wonderful summer!  My summer was great!  I did not to do as much as I wanted because of the course I took over the summer, But I did have a great summer over all.  I read ALL of my books that I wanted and few more to boot!  Towards the end of the summer, I did my annual school shopping with my godmother. This year was the longest I’ve stayed (almost 10 days), and…… she even had  itinerary for us!  While I was there I got so sick that I had to go to the hospital.  I was diagnosed with  Acute Sinusitis which left me in the bed for a couple days.  It was horrible!  Not only did I feel horrible physically, but mentally as well.  I felt so bad that my godmother had all these vents planned and we couldn’t do many of them because I was sick.   We still got to do some shopping for school towards the end of my visit.  I got some really cute clothes for school!  Thanks godmom for ALL~ways being my fairy godmom!  Right before school I partnered with Applebees and hosted Dinning to Donate where 10% of Adele’s Literacy Library customers food bill went toALL.  It was a nice event and I am looking forward to eating MORE good food at Applebees at my next event there!  THANK YOU APPLEBEES!!!!!!!

Well school has started and I absolutely LOVE  H.S.!  I don’t get to see my friends as much but I am involved in so many other different organization that are offered at my school!  Things are so different in High School, my first couple of days were CRAZY!  I was so confused with my map trying to navigate my way through the halls to get to one classroom to the next.  After school, I hurried home told my mom ALL about my day and rode my bike to the Middle school to see my favorite teacher of ALL time.  I told her about my day and how much I missed her (she hasn’t been my teacher for over four years)!  We talked for a while and so we didn’t have to leave each other right away, she put my bike in the car and she drove me home!  She is sooooo cool!  I hope her classroom is filled with good students this year!

On October 24, 2009 I will be in Frederick, Maryland at the Mall for Hero’s Day!  A few months back, I was selected as one of Lilly’s Heroes and on that day all the heroes are invited at the Mall to talk about their business and bring awareness to their worthwhile cause.  I will be there of course promoting Literacy and giving away brand new books and bookmarks!  The event is from 10-4pm so come check us out!  For more info, visit http://www.justgabe.com/2009/08/12/kids-are-heroes-day-3/

My website as well as my webstore will be updated in a couple of weeks, I apologize that some of the info has not been posted.  Oh before I forget!  The BEA Expo is in May!  Yes!  I know…. I wont start the countdown yet, but I am really excited and can’t wait!  For more info, visit http://www.bookexpoamerica.com/en/Registration/  The BEA Book Expo will be held May 25-27, you have to check it out!

Until my next blog, continue to READ! I just finished Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt, a really good book. Thank you for ALL the  emails and words of encouragement, I really appreciate every one’s support.

Ready to READ ALL-ways,

Adele

What have YOU Read Lately?

Hello Everyone!

Notice anything different? It’s my new blog design! Well…… what do you think? I like it a lot and I couldn’t wait for the changes to be made. Summer school is over and I have a few weeks before I begin school. Yes! High School that is!
I have completed my summer reading list and the other day while reading The Catcher and the Rye I realized… This is the first “book” I have actually read from since I received my Kindle. Don’t get me wrong, I L O V E my Kindle, but it was so good to hold a book in my hand! I actually missed it!
I would like to say a special thank you to Ms. Linda R. who was very generous in donating many books to help ALL promote literacy. I received a pretty cute and funny book titled ”The student from Zombie Island”; the author of this book was only ten when it was published! If you would like more information about this book or would like to purchase it, please visit ALL for Books web store at http://allforbooks.amazonwebstore.com/category/23150906021/4/Summer-Reading-List.htm .  I wish everyone had a Bust em Up Bill as a friend!
On Tuesday, September 1, 2009, Adele’s Literacy Library will be hosting Applebee’s night! I am really excited about this event because not only do you get to eat GREAT food,  ten percent of whatever you spend will be donated to Adele’s Literacy Library! If interested, you must present the attached flyer to the Applebee’s located at 3800 Black Horse Pike, Turnersville, NJ.  This offer is valid only at this participating Applebee’s from the hours of 11 am – 12 am. Hope ALL  of you can make it! :)
This past weekend, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen held its pageant. I had the opportunity to give each Outstanding Teen that represented her  state a book! I was so excited to have this tremendous opportunity! I wanted to give each Outstanding Teen an inspirational/pick me up kind of book like the Chicken Soup Series, but I was not able to get the amount of books in time. What I did give each girl was a journal and a book mark! I hope they used the journals to write about their adventure!   Ofcourse my state, New Jersey was in the house?!!!  :)    I am happy to announce that  Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen, Brenna Joanne Weick was 1st runner up!  How awesome is that!?

Congratulations Brenna!

Thank you for representing our state so well!

Next month I will have more exciting announcements AND……. school begins…. I cannot wait! I am officially a High Schooler! So until next blog…….Read as much as you can!

Ready to READ ALLways,

Adele

Summertime is the Perfect Time to catch up on READING!

Hello everyone!

Summertime is here and though school is over for some, I was filled with bittersweet memories as I graduated from middle school and begin to prepare for High School! The last day of school was as hard for me as I cried all day hugging friends that I knew I would not be with me in the fall as well as the many teachers that have taught me the four years while at the middle school. I want to take the time to say Congratulations to ALL the graduates of 2009, we ROCK!!!

At my former school I launched “Throw the Book at Them” which was a fundraiser promoting literacy for only the graduating class of 2009 and its teachers. I would like to say Congratulations to the eighth grade teacher who won… Mrs. Costello. She was the recipient of an Adele’s Literacy Library t-shirt and book mark a book light, a fifteen dollar gift card to Starbucks and the book of her choice which was “My Sister’s Keeper!” I also would like to congratulate the student who also was the recipient of a $25.00 gift card to Barnes & Noble. This fundraiser will be posted on my website and available for all schools and organizations as a fundraiser.

Now for the catching up! The Book Expo is over and ALL I can say is that IT WAS SO WORTH THE WAIT!!!!! I had a blast!!!!!!! I cannot begin to tell you ALL the wonderful people I got to meet and the contacts I made! Some of the people I met were Ms. Julie Andrews, Mr. Tony Rose, Ms. Meg Cabot, Mr. Tom Joyner Jr., Ms. Sharon Draper, Ms. Kathy Lee Gifford and Ms. Sherri Sheperd, co host of the View just to name a few. I also met some of the people I had been in contact with prior to the Book Expo like Ms. Debbie McManus, from the Book Expo as well as Ms. Donna Cross, the author of Pope Joan. I was so happy to finally meet these two people because of all the support and dialogue I had with them. I had “Literary Tea” at Alice’s Tea House which was a neat place! I had a blast that entire weekend and I can’t wait until BEA 2010.

Ms. Donna, the author of Pope Joan is having a contest for ALL you readers and you wont beleive what the prize is, you have to check it out! The winner and a guest will get to walk the red carpet with Ms. Donna and her family! For the details, please check out http://www.popejoan.com/2009promo.htm (I will be so jealous of the winner!).

I had the pleasure of going to my former elementary school Oak Knoll, and speak to every classroom about the importance of reading, especially in the summertime. It was so nice to hear the kids talk about their favorite book and watch their faces light up when talking about the books they like to read. I was glad to see my old teachers as I was able to tell some of the kids in the classrooms that they had my teacher. Every kid and teacher received one of my summer bookmarks. I also donated several books to that school’s library.

The Boys & Girls Club of Gloucester County was also the recipient of books and book marks. I have a funny story to tell….. Upon arriving we opened the doors and walked in, we saw nobody at the front desk, because we were early, we kept walking yelling hello….hello?…… We ignored the beeping noise, but then realized it was a security alarm when the sound grew louder an no one was in the building except for us! Before I knew it, we were back outside explaining to the police what happened. I was sooooo embarrassed. Though at least they got their books…….right?

I also presented books to every pre-k graduate from a local day care I have had the pleasure of reading to every month. They looked so cute in their cap and gowns. I was able to call each graduate to the front to receive their wrapped book. I was also called up to receive an award for my dedication and commitment to literacy with the group, it was such a surprise!

Speaking of graduation…… It’s official! I am now a freshman in High School! I decided that I wanted to begin High School in the fall with Geometry so I elected to take this summer intense course in math (Algebra). I start classes on Monday June 29th! It’s for the entire summer and because of my decision, I also miss the family vacation. You’ll never guess what one of my graduation gifts were….. A Kindle! For those who do not know what is a Kindle…. Tisk tisk J to learn more about the Kindle, please visit my web store at www.allforbooks.amazonwebstore.com. The first book I downloaded was Of Mice and Men, and then I will start on my summer reading list! Godmom and Uncle Brian you guys are awesome…. THANK YOU! Another one of my favorite gifts was a coach purse from my parents! It’s pink and cute, and I love it!

I have a cool teen magazine for you to read and it’s free! Check out www.lipglossmagazine.com. I think this magazine is so cool! I love the details especially that girl in the beginning with her iPod. Check it out and let me know what you think!

On a final note. June has been a huge celebration month for me! It was my birthday (yes I am now fourteen), my graduation and my six month anniversary for ALL! I thought it would be kind of fun for you to see one of my favorite videos while I am promoting literacy!
Enjoy!

ALL is on the EDGE of something BIG!

Hey everybody. Long time no write! As I indicated to you in my last entry, I would have some exciting news so here it goes! Drum roll please……………………

Adele’s Literacy Library and a group of MBA students from the Paul Merage School of Business has recently launched the ALL for Books web store powered by Amazon to empower people to read!

Is this great or what? I am so excited about this!

Launched as a joint project between Founder/CEO, Adele Ann Taylor, and a group of business school students from The Paul Merage School of Business at The University of California Irvine, the ALL for Books WebStore delivers on its goal of empowering others to read. Shoppers to the online store can purchase books from the “Adele’s List of Books to Donate” category and have them shipped directly to Adele’s Literacy LibraryTM who will put them in the hands of the organizations/groups that need them. Alternatively, shoppers can purchase books for themselves or others from the “New York Times Best Sellers List” with the proceeds from the sales being donated directly to Adele’s Literacy LibraryTM to help it grow its one simple premise….read and be empowered. (I copied this right from the press release!)

This is so HUGE for ALL! I am so grateful that Adele’s Literacy Library was chosen by the six member team! I would like to especially thank Mr. Karl, Miss Krista, Miss Ann, Mr. Parham, Mr. Sean and Mr. Mark for selecting Adele’s Literacy Library! YOU guys/gals ROCK!!!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!

Please visit ALL for Books and support ALL and purchase a book for yourself or even a loved one! The cool thing about this is that even if you don’t see the book on the web store, just let us know and we can more than likely put the book on the site! Please visit allforbooks.amazonwebstore.com. You can also access the web store through Adele’s Literacy Library website as well! Let me know what you think!

The Book Expo of America is almost here! Twenty-five days and counting!!!!! I have listed most of my go sees! It’s countdown time! I will be having breakfast with some authors and I even received a special invitation from one author to have “Literary Tea”. They didn’t even know that I LOVE TO DRINK TEA!!!! I can’t wait to go!

Next month is graduation for me and I will be announcing the winner of my first fundraiser at the school “Throw the Book at Them!” I will also be visiting the Boys and Girls Club with brand new books!

Until then……. Read!

Happy Anniversary to ALL!

It’s been a WHOLE month since I started my website and wrote my first blog (which by the way makes it my 1 month website/blog anniversary!) Happy Anniversary to My Blog….. Happy Anniversary to my website! Happy Anniversary to my website and blog! Happy one month Anniversary! Before I continue, I would like to thank ALL of my bloggers and ALL of the people who have visited my website. I greatly appreciate it!

Well you know what I am probably going to say next….. COUNTDOWN FOR THE BOOK EXPO OF AMERICA!!!!!!! I know everyone is probably laughing right now, but I just can’t wait!

Things have been moving pretty fast for me and ALL since my last entry so let’s begin!

I have a very interesting book for you to read. It’s titled: Pope Joan, by Donna Woolfolk Cross. For those who are unaware, I had the honor of receiving 10 autographed copies of this book! I also would like to congratulate Ms. Donna, for her book, Pope Joan is soon to be a major motion picture!!!!! It’s going to the BIG SCREEN!!! I am so looking forward to possibly meeting Ms. Donna!

I recently was on TV, yes on national television. It was a telethon for insulin support for diabetes and it aired LIVE! When I arrived, I thought I was going to be answering the telephones taking pledges, etc. but unfortunately because of my age, I was not allowed. Instead I was interviewed on stage and got to speak about my crown and the association it has with the Miss America organization. I also got to talk about my business! I actually received a phone call from a friend from another state who saw me! It was pretty cool!

During one of my “Storytelling with Adele” events, I hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for kids that ranged from 3-11 years of age. Everyone had to find one decorative egg which had candy inside and one that was non decorative. The non decorative egg had a slip of paper inside with the name of a title to a book. Once they opened their egg they received the brand new book that was inside their egg! The decorative egg, filled with candy went home with the kid for parental approval. Fifty brand new books, were given out at this event. The kids were happy and I was too!

Yesterday, I attended a fundraiser (dinner/dance) sponsored by Miss Salem County 2009. My sister queen, Miss Heartland was also there in support. The fundraiser was to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. I had a great time and I wish both of them well for they both will be competing for the Miss New Jersey title in June!

Today I had dance practice and a photo shoot. It was for one of my upcoming bookmarks which will be available in the fall. I went to Arizona! Okay, so I am kidding, but check out this picture! Does it not have a southwestern flair to it!? Well now you have some kind of idea what my bookmark will look like!

I will be making a big announcement in a couple of weeks! I want to tell you so bad, but I have to compose myself and wait until the right time when everything is a go! So until then, keep in touch and don’t forget……. to READ a book!
